Notes and comments
The Hunter 31s were known for lots of interior space, good tracking under sail, and a waterline that lets them sail or motor sail at hull speed (~7.3 knots) most of the time. It will keep pace with other larger cruising type mono-hulls.
Hunter advertises that the 31 sleeps 7. It can of they are all short or mostly children. Realistically 4 adults, or 2 adults and 3 kids is the limit with gear. A couple can easily make long costal voyages.
This boat is in excellent shape for its age. It has been well maintained, is adorable inside, has bright running rigging, has been kept clean, and simple to operate. The stern berth can be set-up for long range cruising (gear storage-air conditioner-extra ice box), or kept as a queen berth.
Two small dings require gelcoat repairs, other than that she is in great shape.
Its a great boat for those new to sailing larger boats, having small children, or sailing on a budget. It will provide many more years of enjoyment.
